Carbon Reduction Statement

Issue Date: 5 April 2025
Review Date: 5 April 2026

1. Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

CSF Building Contractors Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2043, in alignment with the UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy and our own corporate sustainability goals.

2. Baseline Emissions Footprint

We are currently calculating our baseline Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions for all relevant operations. These figures will be published in our next annual update and will form the basis for tracking progress against our Net Zero target.

3. Current Emissions Reduction Initiatives

We have implemented a range of measures to reduce our carbon emissions, waste, and water consumption. These include:

  • Waste and Resource Efficiency
    • Supplying staff with reusable water bottles and lunch containers to reduce single-use waste.
    • Reusing materials wherever possible and specifying accurate quantities to minimise excess.
    • Creating designated on-site storage areas to prevent damage-related waste.
    • Donating surplus materials to local charities and community projects.
  • Energy and Equipment Use
    • Switching off equipment and lighting when not in use.
    • Conducting staff environmental awareness sessions to reinforce energy-saving behaviours.
  • Travel and Transport
    • Encouraging public transport use and van sharing for site travel.
    • Planning journeys to minimise mileage and fuel consumption.
    • Reducing frequency of deliveries and waste collections to lower transport-related emissions.
  • Supply Chain and Procurement
    • Using local suppliers wherever possible to reduce emissions associated with transport and logistics.
    • Prioritising suppliers with stated carbon reduction plans, ISO 14001 certification, or other recognised environmental accreditations.
    • Sharing best practice and exchanging ideas and information with suppliers and subcontractors to promote continuous improvement in sustainability.
    • Collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste.
    • Prioritising materials with lower embedded carbon, including those with recycled content or manufactured in low-carbon facilities.
  • Digital Working Practices
    • Holding meetings via videoconferencing or teleconferencing where on-site presence is not required.

4. Future Emissions Reduction Targets

Our medium and long-term plans include transitioning our fleet to hybrid and electric vehicles, increasing use of low-carbon materials, and expanding our Scope 3 emissions reporting. These initiatives are embedded in our carbon reduction roadmap and will be implemented progressively to meet our 2043 Net Zero target.

5. Carbon Offsetting

Where immediate reductions are not feasible, we will offset our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions through verified schemes that support renewable energy, reforestation, and nature-based solutions. These offsets will be transparently reported and reviewed annually.

6. Governance and Reporting

Our carbon reduction strategy is overseen by senior management and reviewed annually. We are committed to transparent reporting and continuous improvement, and will publish updates in line with UK Government CRP guidance.

8. Review and Monitoring

This policy will be reviewed annually or in the event of significant legal, operational, or regulatory changes.

All updates are approved by the Directors and communicated to employees and supply chain partners.
